Guidelines for CMA CulFest 2023

1.       Date and Venue for the events: CULFEST 2023 - July 29th 2023,   at Father Michael Goetz Secondary School,  - 330 Central Pkwy W, Mississauga, ON L5B 3K6

2.       A participant can register for a maximum of 7 items only.

3.       Registration Fee is $ 5 per Item or $ 35 for 7 items max(Fees are non-refundable).

4.       Participant age is as of DECEMBER 31, 2022. Please choose by age category appropriately or may result in Disqualification. Important: You should be prepared to submit 'age -proof' (Driver's Licence, Health Card, Birth Certificate, Passport, PR Card etc) at the time of competition.

5.       For Speech subject will be given 5 days before.

6.       The subjects for essay writing/ drawing/ Painting will be given at the venue on the day of the competition.

7.       For Pencil Drawing/ Painting – Participants should bring all tools and accessories as required. Sheets for drawing and painting will be provided

8.       For any singing events, participants are not allowed to use karaoke or any supporting instrumentals or any accessories other than microphone. For Classical music, participants may use Tambura/Sruthi box/Sruthi App in airplay mode (should not include sounds of other instruments)

9.       Participants are allowed to perform with lyrics page on paper or phone in airplay mode for Cinematic/Carnatic/English Songs

10.   Every participant will be allocated an Identification badge and should wear it for all events. No names will be announced or used during the competitions other than announcing the results.

11.   For group items, each participant must register and pay the registration fee.

12.   For all dance events, participants should submit one CD with a single song/music for each of the dance competitions they are participating in to the organizers when they collect their PIN badges. The participant/teacher/parent is responsible to ensure that the CD and the contained track is of good sound quality and plays on a laptop well prior to handing it over. Your PIN will be marked on the CD to avoid confusion.

13. Parents and relatives of participants should refrain from entering the non stage items classrooms.

14. Participants, Parents, Teachers/Choreographers are requested to stay away from the sound area and keep their interaction with the sound organizers during stage events to the minimum.

15.   POINTS: 1ST = 5 POINTS 2ND = 3 POINTS 3RD = 1 POINT

The last date for submitting the completed application with registration fee is 26th July 2023 before 11.59 pm.

1. Cinematic Song

*  No karaoke

*  Maximum 5 minutes

*  Allowed to perform with lyrics page

 

2. Classical Music ­ Vocal

*  No karaoke

*  Participants may use Tambura/Sruthi box/Sruthi App in airplay mode with no other instruments in the background

*  Maximum 10 minutes

*  Allowed to perform with lyrics page 

 

3. Solo English Song

No karaoke

*  Maximum 5 minutes

*  Allowed to perform with lyrics page

 

4. Poem Recitation

*  No karaoke

*  Memorized, no reading from paper allowed

*  Maximum 5 minutes

 

5. Speech / Elocution

*  Maximum 5 minutes

*  Memorized, no reading from paper allowed

*  Topics are given 5 days before the event, it will be published on the website

 

6. Essay Writing / Story Writing

*  Maximum 1 hour

*  No use of smartphones/tablets/laptops or books/magazines allowed

 

7. Poem Writing

*  Maximum 1 hour

*  Topics will be provided on the spot

*  No use of smartphones/tablets/laptops or books/magazines allowed

 

8. Instrumental Music

*  Maximum 5 minutes.

*  No supporting music or tracks allowed

 

9. Pencil drawing(Please bring pencils, erasers and other accessories)

*  Maximum 1 hour

*  Topics will be provided on the spot

 

 

10. Painting – Water color (Please bring paints, brushes, tools and other accessories)

*  Maximum 1.5 hours

*  Topics will be provided on the spot

 

11. Bharatanatyam ­ Single

*  Maximum 10 minutes

 

 

12. Kuchupudi ­ Single

*  Maximum 10 minutes

 

 13. Cinematic Dance ­ Single

*  Maximum 5 minutes

 

14. Indian Folk Dance ­ Single

*  Maximum 5 minutes

 

15. Fancy Dress ­ Single

*  Maximum 2 minutes

*  No background music

 

16. Bharatanatyam ­ Group

*  Maximum 10 minutes

*  Minimum 2 people in a team

 

17. Kuchupudi ­ Group

*  Maximum 10 minutes

*  Minimum 2 people in a team

 

18. Cinematic Dance ­ Group

*  Maximum 5 minutes

*  Minimum 2 people in a team

 

19. Indian Folk Dance ­ Group

Maximum 5 minutes

*  Minimum 2 people in a team
